Toshiba 52HM84 52-inch DLP Television

The Toshiba 52HM84 52-inch DLP Television features a proprietary Digital Light Engine named TALEN (Toshiba Advanced Light Engine) designed and manufactured by Toshiba. This new system utilizes Texas Instruments’ new step-up HD2+ chip to provide high resolution with enhanced brightness and contrast. At less than 16 inches deep, the 52HM84 has a flat panel like appearance and occupies considerably less space than traditional rear projection sets. The Toshiba 52HM84 also incorporates the new Toshiba PixelPure Digital Video Processing Suite. Utilizing Toshiba’s advanced circuitry, PixelPure delivers the consistent high-quality picture expected from Toshiba TVs.

The 52HM84 employs new Toshiba TheaterFineTM DFP Screen technology with a Digital Fine Pitch and Anti-Glare Coating that results in incredible detail and noticeably deeper blacks. New RadianceTM DC Lamp technology features high brightness and lower power modes (for extended life), and a unique Instant Restart feature that allows the sets to restart instantly after power down. This Toshiba DLP TV also features many of the key technologies that the company has been known for, including: CableClearTM DNR+, SRS® WOW, HD WindowTM POP, and now an HDMITM digital input.

TALENTM (Toshiba Advanced Light Engine) DLP Engine
The technology at the center of these sets is a proprietary Digital Light Engine named TALEN (Toshiba Advanced Light Engine) designed and manufactured by Toshiba. This new system utilizes Texas Instruments’ new step-up HD2+ chip to provide high resolution with enhanced brightness and contrast. At less than 16 inches deep, these sets have a flat panel like appearance and occupy considerably less space than traditional rear projection sets.
Step-up HD2+ DLPTM Chip
HD2+ DLPTM technology takes advantage of a new manufacturing process which enables projectors that feature it to deliver even higher contrast ratios. It also features dark video enhancement (DVE) made possible by changes to the color wheel to give even better video performance in dark scenes. At the same time, HD2+ delivers higher brightness and true blacks and whites.
Larger .8″ Chip for Increased Brightness
Full 1280 x 720 Mirrors for Enhanced Sharpness
Filled-in Mirror Vias for Increased Contrast
Toshiba PixelPureTM Proprietary Digital Video Processing
Another development from Toshiba is the incorporation of the new PixelPure Digital Video Processing Suite. Key PixelPure components include:
  • 6.2 Million Pixel Over Sampling — for Higher Perceived Resolution with Decreased Image Distortion
  • Real Speed Progressive Scanning — uses Additional Sampling Points to Create Smoother Diagonal Lines
  • Magic Square Algorithm — for Smooth and Natural Color Gradation
  • Dynamic Contrast Enhancer — for Higher Perceived Contrast and Increased Color Saturation and Purity
  • Super Real Transient and Small Signal Sharpness — for Sharp Transitions from Dark to Bright
  • Color Transient Improver — for Sharp Transitions on Color Changes Without Bleeding
